Right on the heels of my “help, I can’t be a good mother” post, comes this “All Hail Motherhood” tag from Gauri, who, I’m sure, sent it to me for a reason. Any guesses what that is?!

So here goes, the five things I love about motherhood – (too lazy to copy paste rules of tag)

1. I love that it brings with it a rainbow of emotions. You experience joy, love, happiness, contentment, bliss, pride, and you feel your heart fill up so many times that you think it’ll burst. All because of two pint sized people. You also feel rage, frustration, exhaustion, embarrassment, more exhaustion, at other times, and at these times, you think it is your head that is going to burst. Thankfully, it is only a feeling and all organs are usually  intact. All those and many more emotions come in that neat package called motherhood.

2. I love that it has given me an anchor, a purpose of life. I am more grounded, more humble and make an effort to be more conscious of everything I do, because I know two sets of eyes are watching.

3. I love that it has made me grow up to worship the ground my parents walk on, and eat the dust off my grandparents’ feet. I interview them often with questions like  – How did you raise so many kids/grandkids with such few resources? How do you still have the enthu to cater to their needs? Didn’t you ever feel like pulling out your hair…and theirs?

4. I love that it is all an adventure. You have a few fixed parameters, but everything else is anyone’s game. Every turn brings a new challenge, it requires you to use all your God given and acquired abilities, it tests your tenacity, it pushes your limits, it teaches you a ton. Heck, there is enough drama here for a reality show!

5. I love the connection – the most primal, mammalian bond between mother and child. It’s a physical tie, an emotional wrapper, exclusively reserved for two people. I love Animal Planet shows where they show mother and child. I saw one this morning – and couldn’t help the goosebumps as I saw the mother elephant caress her young, push him with her trunk, guide him with her feet, and her cub responding to her, communicating with her without words. And I knew that, that mom must feel the connection too.

The sixth thing I love about motherhood is that I’ve read more than a dozen variations of this tag, and no two are alike! I want to tag some moms I thoroughly enjoyed meeting over the past few months,
